Ethical

At Sippi, we are aware that molluscs are one of the most numerous and diversified animal species, living in both aquatic and terrestrial habitats. They contribute to the structuring of aquatic bottom ecosystems and provide a variety of other species with habitat, safety, and food, making them crucial ecosystem engineers. We personally scour the beaches for exceptional seashells and with the help of local artisans we work at how best to create a piece of jewellery from each one, embracing its inherent beauty without losing its authenticity at a small workshop in South coast of Sri Lanka.

The local Sri Lankan members of our  team who bring our ideas and creations to life and ensure that you shop responsibly, are the foundation of our small business. They work alongside us to produce beautiful and ethically sourced pieces of jewellery.

Sustainable

If there are any recent or present indications of life, we make sure that seashells are never taken. We're not here to build a factory that produces jewellery in large quantities. We only take a small number of unique and striking-looking shells at a time, and if any are left over, we return them to the shore.

Using a light touch we clean the shells without using any chemicals, as this can change their structure, going against the idea of utilising shells that have been found in their natural state - preserving both their inherent beauty and shortcomings.

Ecological

Sippi uses environmentally-friendly packaging. To lessen the packaging's impact on the environment, no inks are utilized and we offer electronic invoices.

Here at Sippi we are inspired by a deep connection to the ocean and everything that it offers in terms of power, beauty, and life. We are aware of its importance for the future of the environment and its inhabitants. We seek to communicate its beauty in a way that is beneficial rather than damaging.
