Our journey with Sri Lanka began during an unforgettable surf trip that extended into a four-month stay . This period coincided with a tumultuous time for the country, as it faced significant financial difficulties and government bankruptcy, making headlines worldwide. Despite these challenges, the resilient spirit of the Sri Lankan people and the island's inherent beauty left an indelible mark on our hearts and our craft.

At the end of our four-month stay, one of our Sri Lankan friends gifted me a handmade seashell necklace from my favourite beach on the South Coast of the island. This seashell became incredibly precious to me, serving as a tangible reminder of some of the best moments of my life—moments that made me feel profoundly connected to my surroundings, alive, happy, and content. It was during this time that I began to truly value what mattered most in life.

Upon returning to the UK, I found that the style of the shell necklace didn't quite match my work outfits. I longed for something more sophisticated and fashionable, something that could seamlessly blend my cherished memories with a sense of elegance and modernity. That was the start of our journey in creating Sippi. Returning to Sri Lanka, I shared my vision with local friends whose support helped transform it into reality. Together, we combined the island's natural beauty with refined design, creating jewellery that embodies the essence of Sri Lanka  whilst blending in with a modern lifestyle. An skilled artisan showed us traditional techniques, and each piece in our collection reflects this rich heritage and collaboration.
